Spring is here, and I can’t wait for glorious-colored produce to arrive at the farmers markets. I love going to farmers markets. The produce is so fresh, and the taste of the fruits and vegetables is incomparable to much of the produce you will find in grocery stories. The grocery store produce is picked before much of the fruits and vegetables is fully ripe, leaving a bland taste in your mouth. Fruits and vegetables at farmers markets are picked at the peak of freshness, and there is nothing that will match the freshness. The aroma of ripe oranges, the tartness of fresh-picked tomatoes, the crispness of cucumbers–nothing can beat it.
I grew up on a farm, and my parents grew all manner of fruits and vegetables in our garden. I loved being able to go to the garden and pick the fruits and vegetables at the peak of ripeness. Sometimes I would eat the produce right there in the garden. Oh, the memories! That is why I love farmers markets. They remind me so much of those moments in our garden, eating fresh produce right off the vine. You can’t get any fresher than that.
